Safety on the City Roads for Cyclists, Pedestrians and other Road Users

We are pleased to say that following an earlier initiative suggesting a joint approach by the HR Directors of City businesses and the City of London Corporation, courses are now being organised for all cyclists to help ensure greater road safety awareness.

This safety campaign includes a demonstration of the vulnerability of cyclist and pedestrians to the blind spots of drivers of Heavy Goods Vehicles, particularly when overtaking, or when such vehicles are turning at road junctions, and when moving off from a stationary position.

This training is part of the City’s wider Road Danger Reduction plan, aimed at all road users and pedestrians, to help ensure our streets are safe for all to use.

Details of demonstrations with the opportunity to see from these dangers from the Driver’s Cab can  be obtained form City of London Police Road Safety Section or from the City’s Road Safety Team.
